How often should I change my oil?

In the past the 3,000 mile or 3 month rule was the most reliable answer. In fact most oil manufacturers still recommend the 3,000/3 month rule. However, many auto manufacturers are increasing the distance and time between recommended changes. Some manufacturers recommend that your oil is changed anywhere up to 7,500 miles. Either way this question has developed into a debate among experts.

Oil is the “blood” of your car and you want to keep it healthy. Not only does your engine require oil to run efficiently but old or dirty oil can actually harm your engine. It is vital to your engine that your oil remain clean and un-abrasive.

Frequent oil changes does have it’s perks. Since you are servicing your vehicle with expert technicians they may have the ability to see a problem before it endangers you or becomes a serious and expensive problem.

My oil change rule is different for every car I own. I base my oil change frequency on the manufacturers recommendations.
